Adele Wanted to Duet with Beyonce

Rihanna and Katy Perry collaboration they were planning would seem to meet a tough competitor and my level. This can happen when Adele wants to duet with Beyonce really materialized.

"I always wanted to duet with Etta James, but unfortunately he was dead. So I probably would choose Beyonce because she is my favorite singer," he said in an interview with French radio station NRJ.

Adele did not hesitate even to admit that in fact he had been a fan of Beyonce since she was 11 years old. "I've been listening to his songs since the age of 11 years. I adore him. I like everything he did," added the winner of six Grammy Awards of 2012.

"I think he is a singer and artist who deserves to be a role model. In his career he was always evolving and growing," said Adele commented on the idol.

Adele own claim will be releasing a new single later this year. As for the new album, he chose to be patient and will be released at least two years.

Adele Sweeps; Foo Fighters & Kanye West Dominate The Grammys (Full List Of Winners)

Just as predicted, British songstress Adele dominated the 2012 Grammys, from a rousing performance of her hit "Rolling In The Deep" to sweeping all six categories in which she was nominated.

She picked up the pre-ceremony awards for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Short Form Music Video for "Rolling in the Deep", along with the awards for Record Of The Year ("Rolling in the Deep"), Album Of The Year ("21"), Song Of The Year ("Rolling in the Deep") and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Someone Like You"; but Adele wasn't the only big winner at this year's awards ceremony.

Foo Fighters, Skrillex and Kanye West were already big winners at the Grammys on Sunday night before the ceremony got underway.

Dave Grohl's rock act picked up four awards at a pre-event ceremony, including Best Rock Song for "Walk" and Best Rock Album for "Wasting Light", while West and Skrillex were triple winners.

West landed awards for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration and Best Rap Song ("All of The Lights") and Best Rap Album ("My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy"), along with a co-award with Jay-Z for their single "Otis" from their collaboration "Watch The Throne.

Electronic star Skrillex picked up trophies for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronica Album ("Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites").

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band got what is sure to be a very emotional Grammy Awards off to rousing start in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The Boss made no mention of the Whitney Houston tragedy that was hanging over the ceremony and raced into a ferocious rendition of new song "We Take Care of Our Own".

Springsteen and his bandmates were joined by a string orchestra onstage at the Staples Center as the rocker belted out the patriotic tune with an angry snarl throughout.

Introducing the song, he growled, "America, are you alive out there?"

Once the stirring performance was over, LL Cool J, the Grammys' first host in seven years, took to the stage.

He took a somber, serious tone as he addressed Houston's passing and said, "There is no way around this; we've had a death in our family, and so at least for me the only thing that feels right is to begin with a prayer for a woman who we loved, for our fallen sister Whitney Houston."

He bowed his head and stated, "Heavenly father, we thank you for sharing our sister Whitney with us. Today our thoughts are with her mother, her daughter and all of her loved ones, and although she is gone too soon we remain truly blessed to have been touched by her beautiful spirit and to have her lasting legacy of music to cherish and share forever. Amen."

The rapper/actor then introduced footage of Houston performing "I Will Always Love You" at the Grammy Awards in 1994, adding, "Whitney, we will always love you."

LL then welcomed Brits Adele and Paul McCartney, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Tony Bennett and Carrie Underwood to the Grammys and asked, "Are we all ready for music's biggest night?"

Bruno Mars then kept the party going with another rousing performance as the event's organizers and performers attempted to get past the sadness surrounding Houston's death on the eve of the Grammys.

Highlights of the night included Rihanna's pumped-up rendition of "We Found Love" and Coldplay's struggles with their song "Paradise" - before a huge day-glo backdrop. Off-key and croaky, frontman Chris Martin battled through the song, fighting the bad cold that has prompted the band to scrap upcoming Australian tour dates.

Other major performance highlights included Katy Perry's fiery first TV appearance since her December marriage split, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney, who was given a standing ovation for his performance of new romantic standard "My Valentine" from his new album "Kisses on the Bottom". McCartney also closed the show with a rocking, guitar-heavy "Abbey Road" medley of "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End" that featured Joe Walsh, Dave Grohl and Springsteen.

The night's most bizarre performance came from Nicki Minaj as she debuted a new alter-ego, called Roman, during a strange performance art piece inspired by horror film The Exorcist. Minaj appeared to levitate as dancers dressed as monks and a man pretending to be a bishop watched on.

The 2012 Grammys will be remembered for its all-star tributes - to Etta James, 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Glen Campbell, the Beach Boys, who kicked off their 50th anniversary celebrations with a rendition of summer anthem Good Vibrations at the ceremony, and Houston, who passed away in a Los Angeles hotel on the eve of music's big night.

During the 'In Memoriam' part of the broadcast that honors the artists the recording industry loses each year Jennifer Hudson knocked out a rousing performance of "I Will Always Love You" in tribute to the late Houston, despite reports that the singer had struggled with emotions during rehearsals.

After Adele was presented with the Grammy for Album of the Year ("21") by none other than Diana Ross, Paul McCartney closed out the show with a classic performance of the Beatles' "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End".

The Adele interview that brought us to tears

With a voice as instantly recognizable as Etta James and a talent for telling stories via song that would make Dolly Parton proud, Adele is a musical talent that is impossible to push aside.

And why would you even want to?

Slapping the music world across the face with her sophomore album "21," out Feb. 22, Adele brings an arsenal of 11 new tracks that tell the tale of simple moments in love. Avoiding layering songs about every guy she's ever simply smooched (see Taylor Swift or Lady GaGa), this UK songstress paints a LP romance from beginning to end about one boy who loved one girl, named Adele.

I sat down with Adele to talk about her new album, the newly-found country artist who inspired each track and the times she "loves for someone else to take over." What came at the end of the interview was completely unexpected, and gorgeously perfect.

Adele helps British artists reach US album sales peak

Adele has helped British musicians take their highest share of US album sales for more than a decade, according to UK record industry body the BPI.

British artists accounted for 11.7% of all albums sold in the US in 2011, the BPI said, up from 9.8% in 2010.

Adele's second album 21 led the pack, selling 5.8 million copies, followed by Mumford and Sons' Sigh No More, which sold 1.4 million.

A total of 30 albums by UK acts sold more than 100,000 copies in the US.

The Brits' share was the highest since comparable figures were first compiled in 2000, and could be the highest since the 1980s, the BPI said.

The other best-selling British albums in 2011 included Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto, Susan Boyle's Someone to Watch Over Me and the two albums by Florence and the Machine.

Adele's debut 19 sold more than 900,000 copies last year, while Liverpool-born R&B singer Marsha Ambrosius was also among the year's biggest British sellers with her debut solo album Late Nights and Early Mornings.

Meanwhile, Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Coldplay, Taio Cruz and The Beatles were among the UK acts who joined Adele in selling more than a million single tracks in the US last year.

BPI chief executive Geoff Taylor said boybands like One Direction and The Wanted, who are both enjoying chart success across the Atlantic, looked set to continue the trend.

"These results prove that the risks UK labels take investing in British talent... help British artists break internationally and generate important exports that boost the UK economy," he said.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins  (born 5 May 1988), better known simply as Adele, is an English recording artist and songwriter. Adele was offered a recording contract from XL Recordings after a friend posted her demo on MySpace in 2006. The next year she received the Brit Awards "Critics' Choice" and won the BBC Sound of 2008. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008 to much commercial and critical success. The album is certified four times platinum in the UK, and double platinum in the US. Her career in the US was boosted by a Saturday Night Live appearance in late 2008. At the 2009 Grammy Awards, Adele received the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. 

Adele released her second album, 21, in early 2011. The album was well received critically and surpassed the success of her debut. 21 helped Adele earn six Grammy Awards in 2012 including Album of the Year, equalling the record for most Grammy Awards won by a female artist in one night. The album has also helped her receive numerous other awards, including two Brit Awards and three American Music Awards. The album has been certified 15 times platinum in the UK;  in the US the album has held the top position longer than any other album since 1985. 

The success of 21 earned Adele numerous mentions in the Guinness Book Of World Records. She is the first artist to sell more than 3 million copies of an album in a year in the UK. With her two albums and the first two singles from 21, "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You", Adele became the first living artist to achieve the feat of two top five hits in both the UK Official Singles Chart and the Official Albums Chart simultaneously since the Beatles in 1964. With her third release from the album, "Set Fire to the Rain", becoming her third number one single in the US, Adele became the first artist in history to lead the Billboard 200 concurrently with three Billboard Hot 100 number ones. Adele is also the first female artist to have three singles in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, and the first female artist to have two albums in the top five of the Billboard 200 and two singles in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously. 21 is the longest running number one album by a female solo artist on the UK Albums Chart and is the longest running number one album by a female in Billboard history.
